The Art of Lent – Day 31, Wednesday

One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?”
Jesus responded, “Do wedding quests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.”

Luke 5:33-35 NLT

Jesus is the bridegroom of the church, and in this passage, he alludes to his role as the groom. While Jesus was present with his disciples, they didn’t fast; they celebrated his presence. When we are in the presence of Jesus at the wedding feast of the Lamb, we will no longer fast. Imagine what the feast table will look like, and write a paragraph or two to describe the scene.
