October 15th is the National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day (there is a link to it under the Miscarriage Support tab on the right side of this blog). If you live in or near the Birmingham, Alabama area, keep your eye out for information about a memorial service for 2018. As date, time, and location are determined, I’ll add the information here.
While this is an event specifically to remember the angel babies in our lives, you don’t have to be a “Butterfly Mom” to attend. Much of the attention in a miscarriage is on the women who actually experience it, but there are “Butterfly Dads,” too. You are also welcome to come and support a friend or a loved one. You who support us when we’re grieving are a part of our angels’ lives, too, and it would be a great honor to share this time with you. We’ll count you as “Butterfly Friends.” 😉
The actual memorial service will be a time of prayer including a candle lighting to remember the angels we’ve lost. There will be a registration card you can fill out if you would like more information regarding support groups, counseling, and future events.
I hope you can come join us for this special day. Even if you can’t participate, I invite you to join the Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7:00 p.m. as an act of remembrance. If candle lighting isn’t your thing, then please pray for the people you know whose lives have been forever changed by a pregnancy or infant loss.
If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, or if you would like to help in any way, please e-mail me at mabbatblog@gmail.com.
